ARTE – Un acquerello di Brolo all’asta da CHRISTIE’S

3.250 sterline inglesi è quanto ha richiesto la più prestigiosa Casa d’Aste del Mondo. L’opera ritrare uno scorcio di Brolo intorno al 1847.

Si erano già visti disegni di Brolo e della sua Rocca, anche in libri spagnoli e francesi, ma certamente questo è davvero una novità, anche perchè potrebbe non essere l’unico schizzo di quell’epoca che ritrae il paese.

Lot Description: Edward Lear (1812-1888) A view of Brolo, Sicily, inscribed and dated ‘Brolo./5.July.1847’ (lower left), numbered ‘217.’ (lower right) and further inscribed with colour notes including ‘Sand/Buildings white and ochre: Rose gray and grass.’ (lower left and lower right) pencil and pen and brown ink with brown and blue wash on buff paper 8½ x 13 3/8 in. (20.9 x 34.1 cm.)
